CSZ 2023 and COVID

As a reminder that COVID is still with us, the LOC has received inquiries regarding masking policies for the meeting. It is beyond the scope of the LOC to set a mandatory policy for masking or reporting of positive cases during the conference.

The University of Saskatchewan policy is that masks are NOT mandatory on the campus but notes that there will continue to be certain elevated risk areas or activities. While delegates will not be required to wear masks for any event during the meeting, we recognize that some may choose to wear one. Therefore, the LOC will provide boxes of masks in each room for conference activities. Hand sanitizer will also be available.

From the University of Saskatchewan Pandemic Response Team (PRT)

With the end of term (April, 2023), we should expect to see a further de-escalation in COVID-19 measures and move to operationalizing PRT roles into standard health and safety programs overseen by Safety Resources.

There is no requirement for central reporting. In the case of a conference or meeting, the positive delegate would report to the local organizing committee to manage impact. Please refer to the USask isolation guidelines, including being 24 hours symptom free before coming to campus or USask activities.

The PRT can provide test kits for delegates. These can be arranged through the LOC.

All registrants will receive this information prior to making their booking:

  • If a person tests positive OR exhibits symptoms of COVID-19 during their stay, they will inform the Residence Office regarding their positive test and will follow the USASK Covid-19 guidelines.

If rooms are available, we can definitely extend a person’s stay as needed. Please contact the hotel directly.

We do not have any policies in regards to COVID anymore. However, we would be very appreciative of guests if they are honest about testing positive so that we can take into account the safety of the staff. For example, House-keeping leaving towels at the door, a staff member bringing a breakfast tray to the guest so they do not need to leave their room if isolating etc...

We know people do not need to declare if they test positive, however, we would appreciate the honesty to keep our more high-risk staff safe.

Please contact the hotel directly for any further information.

From the ParkTown hotel

If guests do test positive, they can extend their stay with the same rate and would not be moved as the room would already be infected. Room service would be available, and a small table would be set up outside the door for drop off.
