Jackie is a teacher at heart and loves to share her vast horticultural knowledge and experience, both on campus and in the community. Her warm personality and genial teaching style endears her to everyone she meets. Her favourite activity by far is working with students; she often helps the Student Hort Club and advises on special student horticulture projects.

Jackie is actively involved with the Saskatoon Horticulture Society, the education advisor for the Saskatchewan Greenhouse Growers Association, and serves as the government and University representative on the Saskatchewan Horticultural Society, which oversees horticultural societies throughout the province. She writes regularly for the Saskatoon Star Phoenix, The Gardener magazine, and many other publications. She is a sought-after speaker by horticultural societies and clubs throughout Saskatchewan, has taught vegetable gardening workshops at a number of Saskatchewan reserves and is a regular speaker for the Gardening at USask livestream workshop series.
